World War II left humanity frightened of a third war that would destroy civilization within minutes and set humanity back thousands of years. However, while all eyes were anxiously focused on the nuclear arms race, a new front slowly developed: a Progressive war. Instead of destroying civilization with violence, Progress destroys it with sweet talk while simultaneously eliminating its most basic foundations – identity and liberty.
Like the giant octopus that gripped Captain Nemo’s Nautilus, the tentacles of Progress grip the symbols of mankind’s identity. This monster has no head. It has no tanks and no machine guns. It doesn’t need them. Its shimmering tentacles have replaced the weapons of war, glowing silken tentacles that deceptively seek equality and rights. The monster has a tentacle that protects animals, a tentacle for advancing women’s rights, an LGBT rights tentacle, an Earth preservation tentacle and a tentacle that will save humanity from the virus that has risen to destroy it… This benevolent and beautiful octopus has become the landscape of our lives. Before we noticed, its tentacles enveloped and gripped all our identity markers. Before mankind understood what was happening, it was sucked in and trapped. A hidden mouth opened, and all that remained of human identity and liberty was consumed, erased.
